Travelers are seeking a warm, sunny vacation this spring. Beach destinations continue to be a very popular destination for domestic travel this spring, and cruises have also seen an increase in popularity.

According to data from AAA Travel, international travel has also seen a notable increase this spring, with a 20% growth in international flight reservations as compared to the previous year. European capital cities like London, Paris, and Rome continue to be very popular international destinations; and many are also looking to travel south to Mexico and the Caribbean for the sunny skies and warmer weather.

Asia-bound travel has also been strong, as Tokyo continues to be one of the most popular destinations.

Brace yourself for longer queues at the airport

As we enter peak travel season, we can expect more people to be flying out and airports to be crowded. With an uptick in passenger traffic, expect busier airports and longer queues at check-in, immigrations, and security.

Arrive at the airport early to ensure that you have sufficient time to clear security. If possible, consider traveling without a check-in luggage so you can skip the bag drop. In addition, consider enrolling in TSA Pre-Check for a faster checkpoint screening.

Get your travel insurance

If you are not someone who has the habit of getting travel insurance before your trips, you might want to consider getting one for your spring break holidays.

With more flights being scheduled, there's also a higher chance of flight delays and cancellations. Airport ground staff are also going to be busier with the increased traffic, and there could be a higher chance of baggage loss.

While getting a travel insurance can't exactly prevent these from happening, they would be helpful in case you would need to incur additional expenses.

It is also recommended that you check for any changes to your flight statuses before heading to the airport.

Embrace flexibility

While planning is crucial, be open to spontaneity and unexpected opportunities. Sometimes the best experiences come from unplanned adventures. Allow some flexibility in your schedule for serendipitous discoveries and local recommendations.

And if you have yet to book your tickets and are slightly more flexible with travel dates, consider traveling in the second half of April where traffic could be more manageable and prices slightly lower.

Pack smart

Efficient packing is the key to stress-free travel. Check the weather forecast for your destination and pack accordingly. Bring along just your essentials and try not to overpack.

Essentials include comfortable clothing, sunscreen, travel-sized toiletries, any necessary medications, and important documents like passports and travel insurance. Consider versatile clothing items that can be mixed and matched to minimize luggage.

Respect the environment and locals

Whether you are traveling within the country or internationally, remember to respect the environment and the local community. Follow sustainable practices, dispose of waste properly, and minimize your ecological footprint.

While it would be nice to just let yourself free, be considerate of the local communities. Drink in moderation, and avoid making a ruckus in public under the influence of alcohol.

Engage respectfully with locals, learn about their culture, and adhere to any cultural norms to ensure a positive and mutually beneficial travel experience.

Miami Beach has 'officially broken up' with Spring Break following the chaos in previous years. We certainly wouldn't want to see that happening everywhere else too!

Budget wisely

Spring break travel can be expensive. Consider cheaper accommodation that might be slightly outside of the city center, or consider alternative accommodation options like a youth hostel.

Traveling in groups are also a great way to reduce your spring break expenses. You could pool your resources to share the cost of renting an apartment instead of each paying for a hotel room.

Check out for deals and travel passes that might be offered by OTAs which could help you save cost on attraction tickets.

And, save cost on data and connectivity by getting a travel eSIM. International roaming costs can quickly skyrocket. Instead of roaming, a much cheaper and convenient alternative will be to get a travel eSIM.
