Singapore: A 5-day child-friendly itinerary

Day 1: Enjoy the Theme Parks at Resorts World Sentosa

For a little island, Sentosa is jam-packed with kid-friendly experience that are bound to expend the unlimited energy of the children. To get the most of your time in Singapore, we recommend that you book a two-night stay at one of the many hotels at Sentosa.

Note that Universal Studios Singapore is closed on Tuesdays, and Adventure Cove Waterpark is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so you may want to shift your plans accordingly!

SEA Aquarium

The SEA Aquarium, located in Sentosa Island, is one of the largest aquariums in the world, housing over 100,000 marine animals from over 800 species. Visitors to the aquarium can witness diverse marine life, including majestic manta rays, enormous goliath grouper, and vibrant coral reefs. The highlight of the SEA Aquarium is the Open Ocean habitat, a massive tank featuring a stunning array of pelagic creatures, including hammerhead sharks and eagle rays. With its interactive exhibits and hands-on activities, children can engage with and understand the ocean's diverse inhabitants in a memorable and meaningful way. Additionally, the aquarium's kid-friendly facilities, such as the child-friendly touch pools, make it a safe and enjoyable experience for kids of all ages.

Universal Studios Singapore

After touring the SEA aquarium, have lunch at one of the restaurants or food courts in resort world Sentosa! Following which, you can choose to head back to the hotel for a quick rest if needed, or head straight to Universal Studios Singapore for an afternoon of fun.

Universal Studios Singapore is the first Universal Studios theme park in Southeast Asia and features a variety of attractions, shows, and rides inspired by popular movies and television shows. The park features several themed zones, including Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, and Far Far Away, each with its own unique set of attractions and experiences.

Note that minimum height restrictions ranging from 0.9m to 1.4m may apply for some rides. In addition to the rides, visitors to the Universal Studios Singapore can also look forward to the Meet-and-Greet sessions with their favourite characters like Shrek, Madagascar, and the Minions. End your day with dinner at one of the many restaurants in Resort World Sentosa. Some recommended restaurants include Din Tai Fung, PUTIEN, Hard Rock Cafe, or Ocean Restaurant.

You may also choose to visit the Adventure Cove at Resorts World Sentosa instead. The Adventure Cove Waterpark is a water-based theme park, offering a variety of exciting water-based attractions, including high-speed water slides, a wave pool, snorkeling with colorful reef fish, and even the opportunity to swim with dolphins. Some of the most popular attractions include the Hydro Racer, the Whirlpool Washout, and the Rainbow Reef snorkeling experience. The park also features a variety of food and beverage options, as well as shaded areas for guests to relax and enjoy the scenery.

While minimum height restrictions also apply for some of the attractions at the Adventure Cove Waterpark, there are still a variety of attractions that you could enjoy with your child at the waterpark.

Day 2: The other part of Sentosa

Sentosa is more than just Resort World Sentosa. Spend the second day exploring the other areas to see what else Sentosa has to offer!

Skyline Luge

After breakfast at the hotel, you can take the Sentosa monorail to the Imbiah Station or Beach Station, and walk to the Skyline Luge. The Luge is a unique outdoor recreational activity that allows visitors to ride down a 600-meter-long track on a three-wheeled cart, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.

The Luge experience starts with a scenic chairlift ride to the top of the track, which provides an opportunity to take in the stunning views of the surrounding areas. At the top, riders can choose from two tracks with different levels of difficulty, each offering a thrilling and exciting experience. The Luge carts are designed for ease of use and safety, and riders can control their speed and direction.

To ride alone, your child has to be at least 6 years old and above 110cm. If your child is below 110cm or under the age of 6, they can still ride the Luge in tandem, accompanied by an adult by purchasing the child doubling ticket. Each ride is about 20 minutes, but one ride is almost always not enough!

Have lunch and get some rest at one of the eateries nearby. You can also head out to the beaches nearby for some family fun.

Hop on to the Sentosa Beach Shuttle and alight at Siloso Point station. Alternatively, you could walk along the beach to arrive at the Trickeye Museum.

The Trickeye Museum is an interactive art museum that features a unique blend of traditional paintings and cutting-edge technology. The museum showcases a collection of 2D and 3D paintings, optical illusions, and interactive installations that visitors can interact with to create a truly immersive experience. Visitors can take photos with the paintings to create the illusion of being a part of the artwork, or step into a painting to experience a different world. In addition to the interactive exhibits, the Trickeye Museum also offers a variety of fun activities, such as a virtual reality experience, a 4D theater, and a photo booth.

Take the cable car from Sentosa to Harbourfront

Head over to the Cable Car station for an alternative mode of transport back to the main island of Singapore. The most scenic way to experience Singapore, the Singapore Cable Car offers a 360º panoramic view from 100 metres above sea level. You can purchase a roundtrip ticket, or a ticket for unlimited rides in a day.

The ride from Sentosa to Harbourfront takes about 7 minutes, but you can choose to extend your cable car experience by taking the ride all the way to Mount Faber before returning to Harbourfront. The Sentosa - Harbourfront - Mount Faber - Harbourfront trip would take approximately 20 minutes.

Dinner at VivoCity

After that, have dinner at VivoCity and do some shopping before heading back to your hotel. If your hotel is at Sentosa, you can return to Sentosa either by cable car, monorail, shuttle bus, or just walking across the Sentosa Boardwalk.

Some recommended places for dinner at VivoCity include: Jia Xiang Sarawak Kuching Kolomee, Dian Xiao Er, Le Shrimp Ramen

Day 3: Take it slow and easy

After a full two days of fun at Sentosa, we are now ready to head back to the main island of Singapore. If you spent your first two nights at Sentosa, you would want to move hotels today. We recommend that you stay at one of the hotels around Marina Bay.

Deposit your luggages at the hotel first, have lunch at a nearby mall, and head over to Pororo Park at the nearby Marina Square.

Pororo Park Singapore is an indoor theme park based on the popular Korean animated character, Pororo the Little Penguin. The park is designed for young children and families, and offers a wide range of fun and educational activities and attractions.

At Pororo Park Singapore, visitors can play, explore, and learn through a variety of interactive exhibits and games. Some of the key features of the park include a large play area, an indoor rollercoaster, a 4D theater, and several educational activities, such as science experiments and crafts. Pororo Park Singapore also has scheduled meet and greet, sing along, or dance experiences. You can find out more about the schedules here.

After that, you can have lunch nearby, head back to the hotel to complete the check-in if not already done, and freshen up before heading back out.

If you have already been to Pororo Park in Seoul, or if your child has outgrown Pororo, you could also consider heading to Superpark at Suntec City instead.

SuperPark Singapore is an indoor activity park that offers a wide range of physical and active experiences. The park features over 20 different attractions and activities, including trampolines, ropes courses, ball games, climbing walls, and much more. The park also offers several interactive experiences, such as the "SuperTube" slide and the "SuperBouncer" trampoline.

Note that all children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult for entry; accompanying adults will have to purchase a regular ticket. Participants must also wear the SuperPark grip socks at all times in the park, with each pair priced at SGD3.50.

After that, you can have lunch nearby, head back to the hotel to complete the check-in if not already done, and freshen up before heading back out.

Singapore Flyer

The Singapore Flyer is an observation wheel at the Downtown Core district of Singapore. One round on the Singapore Flyer takes about 30 minutes, and there are packages that you can choose from to enhance your overall Singapore Flyer experience.

Suntec City

With so many malls in the area - and all within walking distance to each other - there’s definitely something for you. With the large variety of food options, we recommend that you have dinner at Suntec City. You can also bring your child for some shopping at Toys’R’Us, or head over to Cow Play Cow Moo for some arcade fun!

Day 4: Discover the West of Singapore

Spend the fourth day in the West side of Singapore, away from the regular tourist spots.

The Singapore Science Centre is a large science museum located in Jurong East, Singapore. The centre comprises over a dozen exhibition halls that cover various areas of science, including physics, biology, and technology. Visitors can experience hands-on demonstrations, interactive displays, and immersive simulations.

You can have lunch at the Singapore Science Centre. Alternatively, you could head over to the coffeeshops just across the road or the neighbouring shopping malls just 10 minutes away for more options. You can also spend some time exploring the malls before you continue with the rest of your day.

Snow City

Located right next to the Singapore Science Centre, Snow City Singapore is an indoor snow park and winter-themed attraction. Possibly the only chance of Winter in Singapore, the Snow City is the first permanent indoor snow center in Southeast Asia and offers visitors the unique opportunity to experience snow and winter activities in a tropical country. Snow City Singapore has a large indoor area that is kept at a temperature of -6°C, where visitors can enjoy a variety of winter activities, such as sledding, snow tubing, and snowball fights.

You will be provided with winter jackets and boots. If you are planning to visit the Snow City, we recommend that you bring your own set of gloves, pants, and socks. Alternatively, gloves and insulated pants can be rented at Snow City, while socks will have to be purchased.

For general play, children below the age of 7 should be accompanied by an adult. A minimum height requirement of 0.9m is required for the Ice Bumper Car, and children have to be above 1.2m to be able to ride solo. The Winter Shooting Arena is only for participants aged 14 and above.

If you’ve already experienced the real deal and are not as interested in artificial snow, you could consider going to West Coast Park instead. A 15-minutes drive (or 30-minutes bus-ride) away from Singapore Science Centre, West Coast Park is the largest urban park located in West of Singapore. It covers over 50 hectares and offers a wide range of recreational facilities and outdoor activities, making it a popular destination for families and friends looking to enjoy some outdoor time.

There are several play areas and adventure zones for children. These areas are equipped with play structures, swings, slides, and obstacle courses, which will definitely be a hit with children. There are also bike rentals available if you would like to spend the afternoon cycling around the park.

Have dinner at Ayer Rajah Food Centre

Head over to Ayer Rajah Food Centre for some local food fare and experience the local hawker culture! There are a variety of food options at the Ayer Rajah Food Centre that you can choose from. We recommend that you try the BBQ Stingray or Indian Rojak there!

Day 5: Everything Animals

Spend the last day at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, where the zoo, river wonders, and night safari is located!

You will be able to spend the entire day at the Singapore Zoo and River Wonders, two wildlife parks in close proximity to each other.

Singapore Zoo is a world-renowned wildlife park located in the northern part of Singapore. It covers an area of over 28 hectares and is home to over 2,800 animals from over 300 species, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. The zoo is known for its innovative and naturalistic habitats, which allow visitors to get up close and personal with the animals. The park is organized into several different areas, including the Primate Kingdom, the Fragile Forest, the Reptile Garden, and the Elephants of Asia.

The River Wonders is the first and only-river themed wildlife park in Asia, and is home to over 6,000 animals from more than 400 species. The park is divided into several different areas, including the Amazon Flooded Forest, the Mississippi River, and the Yangtze River, each of which features its own unique collection of animals and habitats. Some of the park's highlights include the Giant Pandas, the Mekong Giant Catfish, the Red Pandas, and the Manatees.

In addition to the traditional exhibits, Singapore Zoo and River Wonders also offers several interactive experiences, including the Rainforest Fights Back show, the Animal Friends Show, and the Jungle Breakfast with Wildlife. These experiences allow visitors to learn about and interact with the animals in unique and exciting ways.

If you still haven’t had enough of animals, and still have energy for more, you can also consider visiting the Night Safari, a unique wildlife park located in the northern part of Singapore. It is the world's first nocturnal wildlife park and is home to over 2,500 animals from over 130 species, including many species that are rare and endangered.

Some of the park's highlights include the Malayan Flying Fox, the Binturong, the Asian Elephant, and the Malayan Tiger, among others. The Night Safari also offers several interactive experiences, including the Creatures of the Night Show, the Night Safari Tram ride, and the Walking Trails. Remember to check out the schedules of the animal shows before your visit.

Depending what time you end at the Singapore Zoo and River Wonders, you could also consider taking a private hire out to Yishun or Khatib for more dinner options before returning for the Night Safari tour.
