Lynn Canyon Park and Lynn Suspension Bridge

Located just 15 minutes' drive north of downtown Vancouver, Lynn Canyon Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a myriad of trails, waterfalls, and mini-hikes. But its most iconic feature is none other than the Lynn Suspension Bridge.

While less dramatic than the Capilano Suspension Bridge, the Lynn Suspension Bridge provides a much more peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. It is also much less crowded, and is a great choice for those who want to enjoy a quiet stroll in nature. And to add on to its natural appeal, the Lynn Suspension Bridge is free!

The Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge towers at 50 meters (160ft) over the canyon, stretching across raging waters, waterfalls, and deep pools below. The bridge is rather narrow, and it will shake when people are crossing it. So if you have a phobia of heights, crossing the Lynn Suspension Bridge might not be for you.

But for those who can dare to cross the bridge, the panoramic views of the canyon and surrounding forest make it a rewarding adventure. The bridge provides an exhilarating vantage point, allowing visitors to appreciate the rugged beauty of the landscape and the lush greenery that surrounds them. The middle of the bridge is where you will get some of the best views and photo opportunities.

Baden-Powell Trail: A hiking trail suitable for all

Lynn Canyon is more than just the suspension bridge. It also boasts several hiking trails that cater to all levels of hikers.

The Baden-Powell Trail, which stretches across the entire North Shore region, is one of the most popular trails. It is well-marked and different sections on the trail offers varying levels of difficulty, making it a popular option for both the beginners and more seasoned hikers.

The Baden-Powell Trail also passes through the Lynn Suspension Bridge, so you can hike along the trail to get to the bridge. From the bridge, you can also branch out to other shorter trails nearby.

Take note that trails in the canyon can often be rough and muddy, so make sure you are in the correct gear and attire.

Have a picnic by the 30-foot pool or Twin Falls

Another very popular feature of the Lynn Canyon Park is the 30-foot pool. The 30-foot pool is a beautiful swimming hole that is very popular during the summer months. You will find visitors taking a quick dip in the pool to cool down from the summer heat. There is also a very large area around the pool, where visitors can find a spot for a picnic.

The 30-foot pool is rather popular amongst locals and visitors, so it could get crowded. If you wanted to chill by the river without the crowds, you can hike to the Twin Falls instead. Follow the signs to the Twin Falls Bridge, and climb down to the river — note that the climb is quite steep, which also explains why it is much less quieter than the 30-Foot pool.

Getting to Lynn Canyon Park

The visiting center of Lynn Canyon Park is located at 3663 Park Road in North Vancouver.

Driving: There is plenty of parking at the park, so you can drive there.

By bus: If you are traveling by bus, you can take either bus 228 or 229 from Downtown Vancouver to get to the Lynn Valley Centre. From the Lynn Valley Centre, it is about a 15 minutes walk to the Lynn Canyon Park's main entrance.

Hiking: You can also hike along the Baden Powell hiking trail, which stretches from Horseshoe Bay in the west to Deep Cove.
